In the fall of 2008, this single lady joined Match.com.
Birthday Celebration, 2008
I was enjoying the life of a 20-something in the city, but hadn't met any exciting men. I was bored and needed a change. A little internet dating sounded perfect!
The second date I went on was with this guy:
He'd been on Match.com for awhile and his membership was close to expiration. I almost missed him!
On October 19, 2008, after a few promising emails, we met in person at The Rossi:
And after 2 glasses of wine, I knew I wanted to see him again. So, I did!

Just a few weeks into dating Matt I told my mom I thought he might be "the one." So, I dumped my other boyfriends, took down my Match profile and on December 6, we officially became a couple.
Time flew by and our relationship turned serious very quickly. We both knew we wanted to be together forever and that marriage was in our future, why waste time? In June 2009, Matt bought a house in the suburbs of Columbus.
Our home in the 'Burbs
My lease was ending and roommates were breaking up, so after some serious discussion I agreed to move in. It was the best decision I've ever made. Things have gone so well, no major catastrophes resulted from spending every waking minute (outside of work) together. He's even getting rid of all his bachelor furniture (RIP enormous, blue sectional) and letting me paint walls yellow, green and blue - woohoo!
On November 8, 2009, after 4 months of being roomies, he gave me this:
A beautiful, vintage ring from the 1920s. Perfect!
I said yes.
And now we are on a new journey, one that will end with us as a family. How beautiful is that?

I'm so excited to hear your story. I just got married a few months ago myself, so I'll stick around for the news and to offer suggestions when you need them. Good luck!
I really love this post! One of my friends is just trying out the match.com thing so I sent her this link for hope! :)
The key to being successful on Match is to be completely open-minded and maintain a sense of humor. My second round on Match was when I met Matt. The first time I was on I went out with about 10 - 12 guys in 3 months. They were not all winners, that's for sure. The dates were often horrendously awkward. BUT, the awkward ones make the funniest stories to share with your girlfriends over a glass of wine. So, I always came prepared to talk about anything, be outgoing, not easily offended and ready to order the most expensive glass of wine on the menu should my date turn out to be a complete tool. I wish her the best of luck!! And invite her over for wine to hear about it :)
